Abdirashid Ahmed, Government Affairs Lead at Asal Consulting, is a seasoned professional with extensive governance and public policy expertise in the United States and Somalia. Formerly a Senior Governance and Public Sector Reform Advisor to the Prime Minister of Somalia, Abdirashid spearheaded impactful public sector reforms and provided strategic leadership. His U.S. experience includes a role as Senior Policy Advisor to the City of Minneapolis and other leadership roles within the largest Minnesota counties. Abdirashid has consulted with prominent entities such as the U.S. Department of State, USAID, UNHCR, IOM, and the U.S. Mission to Somalia, fostering engagement with the Somali Diaspora. At Asal, he strategically leads Government Affairs, forging partnerships with The Somali Federal Government and Federal member state officials to advance mutual interests and policy priorities, contributing to Asal's growth and social impact. Abdirashid holds a master’s in public policy from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Human Services from Metropolitan State University.
