Dr. Maimuna Mohamud, the Head of Research, Learning, and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) at Asal Consulting, is an accomplished expert with a Ph.D. in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge. Renowned for her extensive experience in conducting ethical research in fragile societies, she specializes in participatory action research and political economy analysis, tailoring best-practice approaches to the unique challenges of the Somali context. Dr. Mohamud has actively engaged in policy discussions with global institutions such as the European Union and the U.S. Department of State. She currently leads Asal's climate change portfolio and has successfully contributed to securing research initiatives with Columbia University. Her upcoming 2023 publication, "Citizens of the Third Republic? Peace Negotiations and Remaking Political Community in Somalia," with Hurst and Oxford University Press, underscores her commitment to advancing her scholarly knowledge.
